Bestfriend Locket Quilt

Mr W likes the first version I made for my friend, so I made him one too, with a different border (matte gold geometric for the 1st), backing and binding. I purchased some more Tula Pink besties in green to make another, it's a colour I like (green and gold) and I had a half heart from my penpal in the 90s.

Ashford Square pattern from Fabric Cafe Quilts in a Jiffy. 42 by 60 inches.

Art Gallery Fabric green and ochre polkadot to bring out the colours. Windham atlas diamond for the natural background, I chose this as it had chain links. The backing is Tilda cotton I purchased on Sherwoods a while ago with a voucher, in cream, teal and primrose yellow. I useused the remainder to make a quilt for my friefriend's cat. Looks like a 2018 range.

Quilting is a darn beige Gutermann thread, which I thought would look gold but blend, bobbin thread is cream. I edge stitched each side of each vertical and horizontal seam, then just under 2 inch in the centres after the first 1.5 inch space.

Acajou Trousers

Deer and Doe Acajou Pants / Trousers. I think I purchased this pattern in 2019? My first version was in chambray, which has more drape than this fabric, for this version I ended up taking in the side seams to reduce the curve, I think I sewed a 2cm seam allowance instead of 1.5cm. I would sew my waist size (smaller) next time for the hips and legs too but the crotch curve of the hip size. They are a high waist banana shape trouser with fly zip and button fastening. I used a deadstock designer cotton suiting which is grey with woven yarn pinstripe, it has a fairly smooth finish and is quite crisp, I chose this because I love wearing grey and they are light but strong and opaque. My other change was to interface the fly zip portions on the fronts, interface the top of the back pockets and front pocket edges, and I sewed two back pockets instead of one. I also added cotton twill tape to the top of the back waistband, that's a trick I learned from Itch to Stitch where there is no interfacing, the back has elastic for fitting and comfort.
