Charm Patterns Stanwyck Skirt

I purchased this pattern last year as I like wearing straight or pencil skirts, I sewed up the shaper pocket version and straight waistband. That's all the non itch to stitch pdf's I purchased a while ago, that I still want to wear, sewn up now. Worn with the Chemainus Blouse. Both cottons are supplied by Minerva.

I don't think I sewed many clothes this year. I loved making quilts and quilted items, well the fabric choosing and patchwork part anyway!

Fat Quarter Quilt

One of the books Mr W let me open early, Fat Quarter Quilt Treats. I chose a selection I liked to show off the prints and Mr W chose. Art Gallery Fabric True Blue plus 1 from another collection, then bound it in Art Gallery Fabric in a navy print to match the third border. Used invisible thread but it was tricky to sew. Backed in Moda woodgrain print. It measures 46 x 64 inches.

Barn Star Quilt

Pattern: Barn Star 1 Coriander Quilts The pattern is designed for non directional fabric so it took a little longer to cut and piece. Craft Cotton Co dog fabric. John Louden white on white. Back is Art Gallery Fabric in landscape print. As the quilt is 40 inch I was able to use 44 inch fabric without piecing. Quilted edge stitched then criss cross on the larger blocks. Gutermann thread in teal for the colour and white for the white.

Wandering Way Quilt

Wandering Way quilt from Quilts in a Jiffy. The finished size is 42 X 60 inches. I found this took longer to cut and sew than the previous two Fabric Cafe quilts. I collected Art Gallery Fabric in red, green and ivory, I didn't have red so had to purchase some, I chose a russet or burnt orange red. I showed my books to Mr W, he chose three he liked, I went with this one to go with the fabrics. I used 2 metres of Art Gallery cotton for the back in a geometric print. Gutermann cream colour 414 for topstitching, quilted in rectangles and squares, edge stitching each side of the seam plus through the blank red and green squares. In hindsight, I should have quilted all in squares as there was a lot of thread trimming, stopping and starting! I think the rectangles make the pattern look less like it is all patchwork squares though, the design is more vertical.

Itch to Stitch Quebrada Skirt

Itch to Stitch Quebrada Skirt in cotton twill canvas. I did need to press it again, but I was on a work lunch break so in a rush. It uses a centre back standard zip, I tend to sew lapped zips, I sewed it with Gutermann topstitching thread and handsewed the end of the seam. I also sewed the hook and eye on afterwards! I since wore it to meet a friend in a pub garden, and despite not wearing tights it kept the wind off.
