Pineapples Harmony Quilt

Rico gold and white cotton original review for Minerva (3 metres, purchased again for the quilt). I was looking for a second fabric for this Harmony Quilt (Fabric Cafe), then the pineapple fabric arrived and my first thought was the gold print looks like pineapples!  The border is Art Gallery fabric, also thought pineapples! It's creative when you get a vibe off one or two of the prints! I went for 1 layer of cotton flannel as 2 layers was too heavy. This is thin but strong, and perfect for a picnic or beach quilt! The gold lacquer is also slightly water resistant.  I prewashed the fabrics. The free motion quilting was surprisingly quick, it takes a while to mark a quilt for straight line quilting, and I didn't think the competing diagonal limes and the round gloves would suit straight line quilting so it inspired me to try out my Janome convertible free motion quilting foot! I quilted it in white Gutermann thread. The Rico fabric side is also a white bobbin. With the rainbow pineapples, it resembles a gumball machine! I thought also of using this pattern as snowballs and a Christmas print. It would also look nice in marble print fabrics for the look of tumbling rocks. It was easy to make, just straight blocks and the pineapple print has snowball corners.

I decided to fussy cut the blocks. I did this by cutting a strip with the centre of the ruler measurement level with the centre of the print. Then I did the same for cutting it into individual rectangles. There isn't a lot of fabric waste, because I save the scraps - I'm hoping to have enough to make one to three colour quilts one day, I like coordinating scrappy quilts!

Puzzle me This Quilt

The blue cottons are 2nd hand! The navy is "Royal Doulton Woodrow Studio London 2003' and the blue I hadn't heard of the manufacturer. It's like a treasure trove to find materials we can't purchase again, I think most quilting cotton companies print limited collections for this reason. They both had a delicate meander design so I wanted to pair them, then chose a pattern for a tiny print.

I paired the blue with a country daisy polkadot Benartex) and the backing is Art Gallery Fabric as it complemented the 90s country kitchen look

Quilted it in Aurifil 2312 (light beige, medium cream)

Pattern is Puzzle me This from Fabriccafe Quick n Easy book. It's one of the patterns Mr W picked out from my remaining books to sew from.
