Vegan Pizza! Winchester

The Cathedral / The Great Hall.
St Giles Hiltop.

Dairy-free pizza at Zizzi's! It's wonderful that they have a separate Vegan Menu. I almost never eat out, if other restaurants would follow suite that would be wonderful for animals and the planet! This is artichoke and garlic cloves (toppings are 70p) with the table chilli oil and balsamic & black pepper. There is a gluten free option made from rice but this is the standard bread. Not a salad in sight! Which town to visit next?

By Hand London Anna Dress

By Hand London 'Anna' PDF & 2.5m of dress fabric according to the pattern.
 River, Winchester in Hampshire.

Mouse grey polyester with tiny black leaves. I cut the front facing in Duchess satin (navy) and also stitched organza ribbon around the neckline to prevent stretching. For the back facing, I used two sides of  dress fabric, clipped and reversed at the bottom for a neat edge. I used organza ribbon for the hem and armscye too. The facing raises up at the front, on the V neck anyway. I understitched and topstitched at a close 5mm - hand tacking or topstitching further away would help. Since I used a contrast fabric for the front, I quite like it!
The first time I made it from white broderie anglaise and white cotton but it was too big. The size 12 fits fine and it was much quicker to sew unlined. You can cycle in this dress too!

Spring Jacket - Itch to Stitch Salamanca

I've wanted to sew a blazer for a while now and the new release of the Itch to Stitch Salamanca Jacket  gave me the incentive to start an 'involved' project. I used existing fabrics, ivy print upholstery and lightweight cream dressmaking polyester,  both from last year. I used white cotton instead of fusible interfacing because of the coarse grain.
Spring Jacket Construction. Both the skirt and jacket are a fully lined and interfaced.
All machine sewing finished, needs to be tacked secure with handsewing at the hem and the sleeve cuffs, and optionally the collar facing. The lining jumps over the hem to allow for movement. You sew the lining to the front sides (leaving the hem facing open, which you then tuck the ease of the lining into) then sew across the bottom from 1cm which secures the hem facing - and turn):-
Before adding the yoke:

Fabric used 1.5 m of 150cm main, 1.5m of lining/interfacing. This is the size 4-C.
I left off the buttons as I think the printed fabrics are decorative enough and it works fine as an open casual jacket. I would say this is an intermediate pattern because it took me four evenings to construct. It's a really nice project to work on as you learn a new technique and create a beautiful garment that will be worn beyond special occasions. I would like to sew a plain colour version with buttons. The sleeve heads are gathered and both the lining and outer involve pleats. The attention to detail, for instance the facings on the sleeve cuffs and front edges create a quality garment which is worth spending time on.

I also wore the jacket with the sleeves rolled as cuffs.
