Denim Tote

Made for my friend, his shopper bag was running ragged so needed a new one. I used 10oz Lady McElroy denim from Sherwoods, it was leftover from a denim jacket I made 3yrs ago. I chose this one for the rustic texture and the midnight navy or black shade.  My first thought was to use waterproof canvas, but cotton denim is a natural alternative. The lining is an Art Gallery Fabric I wasn't able to use on quilts, I've washed it three times and couldn't get the white looking bright, I wonder if it is supposed to be light grey, as I haven't had a lot of colour leaking with that brand before and I always use one colour catcher or more.

Pattern is Elbe Textiles Buckley Tote, I've made this pattern a lot. I would like a bag with a zip, but the corners fold, so I couldn't add a zip. I used light interfacing to stabilise the fabric over time, it's pretty rigid already.  I also top stitched the edges.

I'm pleased to have some craft projects sewn up, dressing fabric out of the attic and put to good use.

Pineapple Quilt

I couldn't get one of the screws out of my bobbin plate to clean out the bobbin area, so my tension was off, it was difficult and time consuming to quilt.

Serenity from Go Bold. The pineapple print in the boxes and the yellow lattice print were 2nd hand 1/2 metres. I used a different pineapple print for the border and doubled the width of it. It uses more than 3 yards as I tried to keep the green Art Gallery oval elements and the pineapple border directional and used a double fold binding.

Art Gallery Fabric gold symbols and green ovals. Backing is yellow polkadot Benartex. Binding is leftover sage green from Fallon's baby quilt.  Quilting Aurifil cream thread. Soft & bright wadding.

Daisies Quilt

Quilt for my aunty, Mr W modelled it before.  posting.

The pattern is Delight from The Magic of 3 Yard Quilts, but I used a double fold binding. Daisies: American quilting cotton purchased 2nd hand new. White: lacquer daisies on white. Yellow: Timeless Treasures. Green stripes (remind me of grass) Makower UK. Backing: Benartex, daisy print. Quilting front and back Gutterman 414 cream.

Recycle Projects

Reused cushion stuffing - Finally replaced the cushion Lucy chewed! I ordered the same upholstery fabric on the roll as the curtains, which the original cushion came with. The insert was also chewed, so I sewed a new one from scrap cotton.  Also added a cotton lining. It has an invisible zip like the original.

Recycled jeans: Mr W gave me his old jeans to use as fabric. I made these medicine bags from the legs. Used a leaf design on my sewing machine for the border. I also interfaced the outer fabric in light interfacing, as the fabric had a slight stretch.
When I have something to refashion, it's a good way to use up ends of quilting cotton I'm not going to use for quilts.
